The arena was primarily used for public executions and gladiatorial battles. In “Episode II – Attack of the Clones,” the arena is the site of a climactic battle. Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padmé Amidala, and Anakin Skywalker are captured by Count Dooku and sentenced to be executed in the arena. However, they are eventually saved by a group of Jedi led by Mace Windu, as well as the arrival of the Grand Army of the Republic.
